Technical debt
Technical debt is the extra work that builds up when a development team takes shortcuts to deliver something faster. Like financial debt, it accrues interest over time – the longer you leave it, the more it costs to fix.
Common sources include rushed code, outdated software, and deferred maintenance. These don’t cause immediate problems, but they slow down future development and increase the risk of bugs and security issues.
